Interpreter Services establishes and reviews written Policies and Procedures as required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations regarding language assistance for any patients with language and communication barriers.įluent in English and Spanish. In fulfillment of the Senate Bill 1840 Chapter 672 of the Health and Safety Code, the department fulfills the requirements of Section 1259 by coordinating interpreter services and by providing qualified interpreters on an ongoing basis wherever language barriers exist between patients and the hospital staff. Responsible for the accurate interpretation of medical procedures and explanations as detailed by the health care provider, medical staff and ancillary services. Translates verbally, and provides physical translation of, all organizational documents for patients, while maintaining confidentiality. Meets and greets primarily Spanish-speaking community patients and families.
